About European Migration Network
The European Migration Network was established in 2008 by Council Decision 2008/381/EC, amended by Regulation (EU) No 516/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 April 2014. The EMN is coordinated by the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Commission.
The objective of the EMN is to meet the information needs of EU institutions and of Member States’ authorities and institutions on migration and asylum, by providing up-to-date, objective, reliable and comparable information on migration and asylum, with a view to supporting policymaking in the European Union in these areas. The EMN also serves to provide the general public with information on these subjects.
The EMN is composed of National Contact Points (NCPs) appointed by the Member States. EMN NCPs are located within Ministries of Interior, Ministries of Justice, specialised government bodies dealing with migration, research Institutes, NGOs and national offices of international organisations.
